Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Biomedical and Health Informatics Department within the School of Health Professions. Under direction, the Postdoctoral Fellow will solve cutting-edge problems in predictive modeling of treatment response in cancer patients. Special emphasis will be given to treatment response in prostate cancer and acute myeloid leukemia, among other cancer types. At the completion of this appointment, individuals will be highly trained in a broad spectrum of scalable statistical and machine learning approaches, integrative transcriptomic, genomic, and epigenomic analyses, oral and written communication skills, and manuscript and grant writing.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
In Dr. Mitrofanova's lab, candidates will be expected to utilize and develop scalable statistical and machine learning approaches, integrative transcriptomic, genomic, and epigenomic analyses, and participate in manuscript and grant writing.
Clinical and Molecular Data download and processing, using Unix/Linux computing cluster (including retrospective and prospective data from dbGaP and other sources).
Assessment of Data quality and suitability.
Application of integrative statistical and machine learning approaches to Data analysis.
Communication with clinical and experimental collaborators.
Prepare and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals, preparing presentations and posters for research meetings.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
PhD in Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Genetic Epidemiology, or related field.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Familiarity with Next Generation Sequencing Data.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong record of productivity and motivation.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
High work ethics and US work authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of R programming language (or strong knowledge of another programming language), experience with Unix/Linux operating systems, Next Generation Sequencing data download and processing (including single-cell data).
Experience with machine learning algorithms and their implementation.
