Postdoctoral Research Associate (Fixed Term)
The Department of Sociology in the University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the NERC-funded project, Centre for Landscape Regeneration (CLR). The Research Associate will work with Co-I Prof Jennifer Gabrys on Work Package 4 to review, develop and test community restoration initiatives. Research will involve reviewing existing practices, interviewing stakeholders within the project and in key field sites in the Fenlands and Cairngorms, organizing and holding participatory workshops, co-designing a community restoration toolkit, contributing to data analysis and dissemination activities (including conference presentations, publications and an online atlas) for the project. The position is 30 months in duration.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 30 months.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will play a key role in contributing to the project and the overall research initiative. You will:
Contribute to the overall survey of community restoration initiatives
Contribute to fieldwork and community engagement, while coordinating with other work-package researchers
Aid in the development and hosting of participatory events
Contribute to the co-design of a community restoration toolkit
Contribute to the project website and other online project materials
Contribute to project presentations and publications
Contribute to dissemination of research findings and research activities according to project's guidelines
Coordinate and collaborate with CLR researchers, including by attending CLR meetings and events
Ensure compliance with all NERC grant requirements, including project reporting, data management and ethics
You may also choose, by arrangement, to participate in teaching and supervision in the Department of Sociology at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
Eligible candidates must have a PhD in Sociology or a closely related subject, with considerable knowledge of digital technologies, smart environments, and smart forest initiatives, ideally from an STS, environmental justice, political ecology or environmental studies perspective.
