Position Summary
The department of pathology of the City of Hope Medical Center is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to work with a group of researchers in the joint laboratory of Dr. Binghui Shen and Dr. Christina Wei.
The candidate is expected to be an innovative scientist with knowledge and experience in molecular oncology (integrative multiomic data analysis), precision pathology (advanced Assisted image analysis on immunofluorescence-stained slides), Immunohistochemical assays and genomic profiling. Interests and knowledge in the analysis of data generated through next generation sequencing and other global technologies including transcriptomic and mutational analysis as well as correlative analysis of different datasets would be desirable. Our group works very collaboratively in a supportive and stimulatory environment with the goal of understanding the pathogenesis of DNA damage response, discovering novel therapeutic targets, and improving the treatment and outcome of women's cancer patients.
The Shen/Wei laboratory has been focusing on DNA replication/repair pathway components, cancer genetics and epigenetics, and cancer etiological and therapeutics modeling. The laboratory is seeking Ph.D. graduates or equivalents in the field of biological/medical sciences with ambition for a scientific career and interest in DNA replication and repair, genome stability, cancer biology and skills in molecular biology, genetics or biochemistry are encouraged to apply. Bioinformatics and data mining skills are a plus for considerations.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
·A Ph.D. degree in life or biology, genomics/genetics or a related discipline is required.
·Experience using Next-Generation sequencing analysis and gene editing in lab investigation.
·Proficient in molecular biological techniques including transfection, transduction, cloning, vector construction, reporter assay and western blot.
·Ability and interest in developing new assays as needed.
·Basic proficiency in programming desirable.
·Values research integrity, careful experimental work, and collaborative research.
Preferred education, experience, and skills for consideration:
·Training background in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry or genetics.
·Ambition and interest in DNA repair and cancer biology.
