Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Freedman Lab
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
Boston, MA
Full Time – Onsite
The Freedman laboratory at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School studies how the noncoding genome contributes to cancer pathogenesis and progression. Our work is characterized by asking questions of biological and clinical significance and deploying the appropriate tools to rigorously test these hypotheses. We use a variety of molecular biology, statistical, genomic, and epigenomic approaches to understand cancer. If required, we develop novel technology. Our research is highly collaborative and includes laboratory investigators, clinical investigators, and computational biologists.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a motivated and intrepid post-doctoral scientist to join our team. The successful candidate will be comfortable investigating innovative questions, which requires taking calculated risks and being able to troubleshoot efficiently. Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience with CRISPR technology and ChIP-seq.
Qualifications:
PhD, MD or MD/PhD in biological sciences or equivalent
Experience with epigenomic assays (e.g., ChIP-seq) and/or CRISPR-based screens.
Strong work ethic, positive attitude, team-centered mentality and most importantly a passion for investigating novel areas.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Background in molecular and/or cell biology, cancer biology and/or computational biology.
Computational skills including computer programming are of interest but not mandatory.
