Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy
The above full time post funded by Innovate UK is available immediately, on a fixed term basis, until 31/3/2025 in the Faculty.
The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in the AI for Multi-Modal Model Generation in Transport project. The successful applicant will develop and experiment with optimisation and machine learning models to improve the process of creating transportation models.
Responsibilities:
Development of optimisation and machine learning models to improve the process of creating transportation models.
Test and experiment the developed models on benchmark and real-world transportation examples
Publish high-quality research articles in top-tier journals and conferences, and present research findings at national and international conferences.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in optimisation or machine learning and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Applicants will be able to work effectively as a member of a team, develop optimisation and machine learning code, understand transportation modelling approaches, read and digest literature on the topic and write academic papers.
Essential requirements:
PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Optimisation or related field with a strong focus on machine learning, optimisation or related areas
An excellent track record of publishing/presenting papers in top-tier conferences or journals in the related areas
Excellent communication, collaboration and leadership skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams
Excellent mathematical and programming skills Python, Java, C/C++/C#, or other relevant programming languages
Ability to understand transportation modelling approaches, read and digest literature on the topic and write academic papers.
