Role
XR Network+ Virtual Production (VP) in the Digital Economy is a five- year Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council funded project to establish a long-term research agenda for VP, XR and future convergent media related content creation and consumption for the creative and digital economies.
XR Network+ is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in data, evidence and policy for up to 36 months who will conduct research on and for sectors of the creative industries and digital economy where these technologies are having an impact. The PDRA will be supervised by the project Director working closely with the XR Network+ delivery team, the Co-Investigator team, and our expanding portfolio of third-party projects. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of relevant data/evidence/policy related creative industries research, an understanding and/or experience of XR/VP technologies and their use, and experience of qualitative/quantitative research methods. They will work closely with industry/academic partners on a range of projects that will help to provide evidence and analysis of this sector to inform our long-term research agenda and roadmap for future R&D in VP/XR technologies, as well as the creative content that is made with these technologies.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed
PhD in relevant area.
Knowledge of technology driven R&D and innovation for creative industries with a focus on VP, XR and future convergent media.
Knowledge of how research data and evidence can be used to deliver policy.
Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research techniques and methodologies.
Highly developed communication skills to engage effectively with a wide ranging audience.
Ability to write up research work for publication.
Ability to develop research objectives, projects and proposals for own and joint research.
Ability to identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds.
Ability to work as part of a team and also to work independently using own initiative.
Interest in and enthusiasm for the subject matter of the project.
Willingness to work proactively with colleagues in other work areas/institutions.
Ability to plan and prioritise own work in order to meet deadlines.
Commitment to personal development and updating of knowledge and skills.
