Postdoctoral Computational Biologist/ Research Associate (Alcolea lab)
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Computational Biologist to work in a multi- disciplinary team focused on studying epithelial cell fate reprogramming and plasticity during ageing. The ultimate aim of this research programme is to identify potential targets to partially reduce/reverse age-related complications. This Postdoctoral Computational Biologist/Research Associate position will be based in the group of Dr Maria P. Alcolea (Wellcome ¿ MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute; CSCI). This represents a collaborative effort with Prof. Steffen Rulands at Faculty of Physics, Ludwig-Maximilians, University of Munich.
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in the application of computational methods, advanced methods in the field of data science and statistical physics. The role holder will have a key position in analysing existing as well as newly generated multi-omics datasets, including single- cell RNA sequencing. There will be opportunity to develop other quantitative skills, as well as establish collaborative projects with experimental scientists in the lab.
Applicants should have completed, or be close to completion of, a PhD in a relevant subject for example applied mathematics, computer science, genetics, or molecular biology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in, and exceptional enthusiasm for computational biology, as well as a strong interest in the underlying biological/disease processes and a passion for data driven science. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual capable of thinking and working independently, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
