The postdoctoral researcher will have a crucial role in analyzing and interpreting data derived from large administrative health databases in Nova Scotia. The primary objective of the project is to develop advanced statistical models that can identify patterns and trends in mental health conditions, explore their associated risk factors, and investigate healthcare service utilization patterns. The research aims to uncover disparities in accessing mental health and addiction care services and to develop strategies that can improve the overall access, quality, and effectiveness of these services.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of mental health care and service utilization. The successful candidate will have the chance to make a meaningful impact on reducing health disparities and promoting equity in accessing mental health and addiction care services. The postdoctoral fellow will work in a collaborative and supportive research environment under the supervision of Dr. Cindy Feng, alongside a multidisciplinary team of researchers and stakeholders in Nova Scotia Health and Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct statistical analyses on large administrative health databases to identify patterns and trends in mental health conditions and healthcare service utilization.
Apply advanced statistical modeling techniques to uncover underlying factors associated with mental health conditions and healthcare disparities.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary research team members to interpret findings.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
Contribute to the development of grant proposals to secure additional funding for related research projects.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field, within the 5 years immediately preceding appointment as a post-doctoral fellow.
Strong background in statistical modeling, data analysis, and working with large administrative health databases.
Proficiency in statistical software such as R or STATA.
Experience with advanced statistical techniques, particularly in the area of statistical modeling for longitudinally and spatially correlated data.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Salary Range/Pay Rate $50,000 - $60,000 per annum Additional Information
