The Pathania Lab at University of Massachusetts Boston seeks a highly motivated individual to join the team as a postdoctoral research fellow who will work on projects related to DNA damage repair pathways with special focus on BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes We are seeking candidates with strong background in molecular biology, and ideally strong expertise in DNA damage repair biology. The research in our group is focused on understanding pathways that drive breast, ovarian and prostate cancer in BRCA1/2 mutation carriers. Our work is also focused on designing new preventive and therapeutic strategies based on insights gained through mechanistic studies in the lab. Mechanistically minded scientists who wish to study these or pursue other similar areas of interest are encouraged to apply.
Our laboratory is part of the Center for Personalized Cancer Therapy at UMass Boston. CPCT is a collaborative venture between the University of Massachusetts Boston and the Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC). UMB houses state-of-the-art facilities including a genomics core (with 10X sequencing), animal research facility, mass spectrometry core and confocal microscopy core. We also have a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment through our collaborations with disease-focused scientists and clinicians in academia to pursue new therapeutic approaches inspired and informed by our mechanistic discoveries.
Examples of Duties:
Design and carry out experiments related to the project, and analyze data generated from these studies.
Develop figures to depict research findings, write research for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
Present results at a relevant conferences (e.g., AACR, Keystone Symposiums, Gordon Research Conferences etc.)
Interpret and discuss research findings with lab members and the principal investigator.
