Job Id: 9643

The Institute of Anatomy and Molecular Neurobiology at the University of Münster offers a fixed-term position for a postdoctoral associate in cellular neurosciences at the earliest opportunity, initially limited to 3 years, with the possibility of extension.

Full-time with 38,5 hours

Salary level according to TV-L E13

Our research focuses on molecular mechanisms of synapse formation and neurotransmission. We seek an interested and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to investigate the role of the synaptic organizer molecules neurexins and their defects in mutant mouse models of neurodevelopmental disorders. Current projects analyze, for example, the crosstalk of neurexins with synaptic Ca2+ channels in vitro and in vivo, and are funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

Suitable candidates will hold above-average university and PhD or MD/PhD degrees in neuroscience or related subjects and have already shown a motivation for basic science as evidenced by a strong publication record. We expect experience analyzing neural circuitry or synaptic function in intact mouse brains, brain slices, or cultured neurons. In current projects, we usually apply molecular genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, electrophysiology, and/or light and electron microscopy methods.

Research associates contribute to the teaching obligations of the Institute in microscopic and macroscopic anatomy for medical students, according to qualifications and experience. Therefore, good knowledge of the German language, in addition to excellent English skills, and the ability to cooperate and work in a team are an asset. The Institute offers the possibility of obtaining your postdoctoral lecture qualification (“Habilitation”).

For more information on the advertised position please get in touch with Univ.-Prof. Dr. Markus Missler, T +49 251 83 50200.

We look forward to receiving your application via our application form (“Karriereportal”) until 28.09.2024.
